$50 off S9 ceramic all-around, not combinable with other discounts, through December 31, 2026.

Tint Starz installs Rayno window tint at 837 Oakton St Unit C in Elk Grove Village, for drivers across Chicago’s northwest suburbs. Three Rayno films are on the menu: Carbon (Rayno MonoCarbon), S5 Premium Ceramic (Rayno Phantom S5) and S9 Highest Performance Ceramic (Rayno Phantom S9). Every Rayno film goes on inside the shop, by appointment, by Javi or Tony.

Every figure for the three Rayno films on this page is Rayno’s published figure, read October 2026. Every price is a starting price, and unless it says otherwise it is for all-around tint, which means every side window plus the rear glass.

Which Rayno film fits your car and budget?

Pick by budget first, then by how much sun the car takes. Carbon, Rayno MonoCarbon, is the entry film, from $240 on a sedan, rated 72 percent infrared in the 5 percent shade and 41 percent in 35 by Rayno. S5, Rayno Phantom S5, is rated 53 to 72 percent infrared by Rayno, from $330. S9, Rayno Phantom S9, is rated 91 to 93 percent across Rayno’s published shades, from $400.

Carbon: Rayno MonoCarbon

Carbon is Rayno MonoCarbon, a two-ply carbon film with no dyes and no metals; carbon particles give it its color. By Rayno’s figures it rejects 72 percent of infrared in the 5 percent shade and 41 percent in 35, and 99.9 percent of UV. The shop stocks Carbon in 35 and 5 percent. The Rayno MonoCarbon specs page has Rayno’s full table by shade.

Starting prices for Rayno MonoCarbon: $200 on a coupe or single-cab truck, $240 on a sedan and $300 on an SUV or truck. Carbon suits a driver who wants dark glass and steady color at the lowest starting price of the three. It is not offered on a Tesla; the Tesla window tint page shows the S5 and S9 packages.

S5 Premium Ceramic: Rayno Phantom S5

S5 is Rayno Phantom S5 in black, a carbon ceramic film with no dyes and no metals. By Rayno’s figures it rejects 53 to 72 percent of infrared, depending on shade, and 99.9 percent of UV. The shop stocks S5 in 50, 35, 30, 20, 15 and 5 percent. At 5 percent, the darkest, Rayno rates it at 72 percent infrared. The Rayno Phantom S5 specs page has Rayno’s full table by shade, with the haze test.

Starting prices for Rayno Phantom S5: $250 on a coupe or single-cab truck, $330 on a sedan and $400 on an SUV or truck. The two front windows alone start at $100. S5 suits a driver who wants ceramic’s UV block and clear glass at night at a lower starting price than S9.

S9 Highest Performance Ceramic: Rayno Phantom S9

S9 is Rayno Phantom S9 in charcoal, from the same carbon ceramic family. By Rayno’s figures it rejects 91 to 93 percent of infrared across Rayno’s published shades, and 99.9 percent of UV. The shop stocks S9 in 70, 50, 35, 20, 15, 12 and 5 percent. Rayno’s published Phantom S9 list has no 12 or 70, so there is no Rayno figure for 12 or 70, which the shop stocks. The Rayno Phantom S9 specs page has Rayno’s full table by shade, with the haze test.

Starting prices for Rayno Phantom S9: $350 on a coupe or single-cab truck, $400 on a sedan and $500 on an SUV or truck. S9 suits a car that sits in an open lot all day, or a driver who wants light front glass with a high infrared figure: at 50 percent, Rayno rates S9 at 92 percent infrared.

Torn between two films? The Rayno S5 vs S9 guide compares the two ceramics shade by shade, and every other guide is on the window tint blog. Ask for both prices at the same time. The window tint prices page lists the starting price for every tint service, from two front windows to the windshield and removal, and the ceramic window tint page sets S5 and S9 beside other makers’ ceramic lines.

Film comparison

What do Rayno’s numbers say, shade by shade?

By Rayno’s published figures, S5 rejects 53 to 72 percent of infrared depending on shade, and S9 rejects 91 to 93 percent across Rayno’s published shades. Both block 99.9 percent of UV. Infrared is the headline number here. Rayno’s second figure, total solar energy rejected, counts every wavelength of sunlight. S9 in 12 and 70 has no Rayno figure.

What the spec sheet numbers mean walks through every column. Shade and infrared are separate numbers: by Rayno’s figures, S5 does not climb steadily as the glass darkens (53 percent at both 20 and 35, 72 at 5), while S9 stays within 91 to 93 percent across Rayno’s published shades. To preview each shade on a car photo before you choose, use the tint shades page, and check the front doors against the Illinois window tint law.

Why does Rayno pair carbon with ceramic?

Rayno’s answer is color. By Rayno’s account, plain ceramic film oxidizes faster than other window films, so its color lightens over time. Carbon, Rayno says, does not oxidize, so it holds its color. Phantom carries both: carbon for the color and ceramic for the infrared, with no dyes and no metals.

Rayno tests the claim itself. In a 1,000 hour test, Rayno says Phantom S5 holds its true color 35 percent better than the leading competitors, and Phantom S9 54 percent better. Rayno lists fading under 1 percent for every S5 and S9 shade it publishes.

MonoCarbon makes the same point against dye. After 1,000 hours of xenon testing, which Rayno equates to about 10 years of sun, MonoCarbon faded less than 1 percent, while the dyed films in Rayno’s test faded up to 8.6 percent. Tint Starz does not install dyed film, and the ceramic vs carbon vs dyed guide walks through all three types.

How do you care for new Rayno film?

Follow Rayno’s own instructions. Keep the windows rolled up for at least 72 hours after the install. The film takes 30 days to fully dry and cure, and a hazy look in that time is normal: it is the moisture from the install, and it clears as the film dries.

When you clean the glass, Rayno says to skip abrasive pads, abrasive cleaners and industrial strength glass cleaners, and not to peel or scrub the edges of the film.

Questions

Is Rayno window tint ceramic?

Two of the three Rayno films Tint Starz installs are. By Rayno's description, Phantom S5 and Phantom S9 are carbon ceramic films, carbon for the color and ceramic for the infrared, with no dyes and no metals. Carbon, which is Rayno MonoCarbon, is a carbon film and not ceramic; Rayno rates it at 72 percent infrared in the 5 percent shade and 41 percent in 35.

S5 starts at $250 on a coupe. The ceramic window tint page sets the two ceramics side by side.

Is Rayno S9 tint good?

On Rayno's own figures, it carries the higher infrared rating of the two Phantom films the shop installs: 93 percent infrared rejection at 15 and 20 percent, 92 percent at 5, 35 and 50, with 99.9 percent of UV blocked and under 1 percent fading on every published shade.

It starts at $350 on a coupe. Rayno's Phantom S9 list has no 12 or 70, so there is no Rayno figure for 12 or 70, which the shop also stocks; the tint shades page shows both.

How does Rayno compare with XPEL?

Each maker publishes its own figures, measured its own way. Rayno rates Phantom S9 at 91 to 93 percent infrared rejection across Rayno's published shades. XPEL's spec sheet, read October 2026, lists PRIME XR PLUS at up to 96 percent infrared rejection at one wavelength, 1025 nm, and up to 70 percent over 780 to 2500 nm.

So the figures are not a ranking. The ceramic window tint page lists other makers' figures with their sources.
