Car detailing at Tint Starz is done by Lando, the detailing lead. He works the bay next to the tint at 837 Oakton St Unit C in Elk Grove Village, and you book him through the shop: one number to call, by appointment Monday to Saturday 9 to 6.

Prices are published by vehicle size, and adding a detail to a tint appointment lowers them.

Which detail does your car need?

Start with where the dirt is. A car that only needs a proper wash takes Wash and Seal, from $65. Paint that still feels rough after a wash takes Clay and Seal, from $125. A dirty cabin takes Interior Detail, from $175, and a car that needs both takes Complete Detail, from $225, on a coupe or sedan.

• Wash and Seal. Foam pre-wash, hand wash, wheels, tires and trim, exterior glass, tire dressing and a 3-month spray sealant.
• Clay and Seal. Everything in Wash and Seal plus iron remover, tar remover, a clay bar and a 6-month paint sealant.
• Interior Detail. Full vacuum, plastics and trim, leather cleaned and conditioned, light cloth cleaning, glass, jambs and cologne. The headliner is not included, and cloth seat shampoo is an add-on.
• Complete Detail. The Interior Detail plus Wash and Seal.

Those are coupe and sedan prices. Larger vehicles cost more, as the menu shows.

Some problems are one job, not a full detail:

• Yellowed or cloudy headlights. Headlight Restoration, $100 a pair, with a 12-month guarantee. It costs less added to another service.
• A scuff or paint transfer from a parking lot. Scuff and Paint Transfer Removal, $55.
• A smell that will not leave. Odor Removal Treatment, $75.
• A dirty engine bay. Engine Bay Detail, from $60.

How long does the sealant last?

Three months on Wash and Seal, which ends with a spray sealant. Six months on Clay and Seal, which ends with a paint sealant. Twelve months with the ceramic spray sealant, $59 added to any exterior service. The 1-year ceramic coating on the windshield is $75, added to any service.

Adding a detail to a tint appointment

If the car is already here for tint, the detail costs less than booking it on its own. On a coupe or sedan, Wash and Seal is $55 with tint, against $65 alone. The Interior Refresh is $89, and the Inside and Out Refresh is $149. The Complete Detail also costs less with tint; the amount is in the menu above under While it’s here.

Ask for it when you ask for your tint price. The SUV and truck prices are in the same part of the menu, and the tint side is on window tint prices.

How booking works

Book this on any menu row picks a time. A $50 deposit holds your spot and comes off your total, and you can move the appointment once for free with 24 hours notice.

Motorcycle detailing is not offered. If the car also needs protection from rock chips, that is paint protection film, installed in the same building.
